Our Neighbors

TALCOTT MOUNTAIN COLLECTIVE

The Talcott Mountain Collective is the embodiment of local experience, bringing together a collection of tastes and shared interests.  Nestled along the base of Talcott Mountain State Park, under the watchful beacon of Heublein Tower, this venue draws upon its rich legacy as a prominent golf club and repurposes the historic facilities and surrounding acreage to provide a rich and welcoming destination for the general public.  Individuals and families will have the opportunity to walk the natural setting and engage in 18 holes of world-class disc golf at our four-season course, Tower Ridge Disc Golf.   Adjacent to the course, our expansive grounds will offer additional outlets for recreation – cornhole, outdoor Jenga, frisbee play, putting greens, and more.  The historic clubhouse will serve as an outdoor/indoor gathering space, where patrons can sit by fire pits and enjoy the best in food and beverage.  True to its support of “local” – The Collective will prioritize offerings that truly represent what’s Made in Connecticut, as food trucks, breweries, and other food and beverage suppliers will represent and enhance the enthusiasm for our greater community.  Rather than have our own large-scale kitchen operation, or deploy in-house brewing, we further control our operating costs by outsourcing preparation and production of what people consume.  Consistent with trends around consumer preferences, guests will have a greater variety of rotating local food trucks and beverage offerings, tapping into “The Best” of what’s available.  Given the ongoing presence of COVID, the 4500 sq ft. interior facility allows for sufficiently spaced indoor gatherings, while the outdoor patios and land will feature heaters and firepits, further supporting year-round, outdoor experiences. Our goal is to offer something for everyone.  We borrow from Shakespeare with our guiding service mission for all who join us – “Our true intent is all for your delight!”

HEALING MEALS

Healing Meals was built on three certainties:

  • Nutrient-rich food is a necessary part of a person’s overall well-being.
  • Young people must be central participants in shaping our collective future.
  • When individuals are linked to their community, they have an overall sense of connection.

Our dual mission drives us to deliver on those beliefs. We provide healthy organic meals to people in a health crisis while fostering compassion and empowering youth and adult volunteers in our communities.

We prepare and deliver delicious, organic meals for families dealing with a serious health crisis.  We cook for the entire family for 12 weeks.  Uniquely, all our nutrient-rich meals are prepared by youth volunteers working alongside Adult Mentors and our Executive Chef.  Each week these delicious and nutritious meals are conveniently delivered right to our client’s doors by volunteer Delivery Angels.
